I have just bought a Hagstrom Viking semi acoustic bass ( from here of course ) but it is uncomfortably neck heavy.

Any ideas on how to balance it better ?

I used a wide Mono strap when I had it, and didnt really find it a problem - although I never gigged with it.

Its certainly no worse than the EB2, Rivolis, and Starfires that I have had!

The Hagstrom tuners are quite hefty ( But good and very classy looking! ) so you could possibly fit some lightweight ones if you can find some to suit!

Will.

Thats a bit OTT for me. Whats wrong with a brick on a string tied to the bottom strap pin?

I had a roll of lead left from previous building work. Just rolled it tightly. Fitted a hardwood plug to cover, and to take he strap button screw.

Wish I'd have thought about a brick before I started

Yeah apparently Schaller and Gotoh are developing their own bricks on strings to fill this much neglected niche. Needless to say Hipshot is developing an ultralite version
