urb
I know most of you will have watched Viacelsav's videos and I just wanted to give the guy a little love for the fact he's a purely amateur musician but brings an incredible amount of passion and enthusiasm to his playing - and far from being some technical w***-fest, the guy is obviously hugely in love with playing bass - and for me that's incredibly powerful and inspiring. Music today has in a lot of cases become massively cynical and depressing - and while this guy hasn't 'made it' in the traditional sense, he has more than 'made it' in the true sense in that he's totally created his own style that's driven by a love of melody, the fact that he makes Flea look a little lame is beside the point Anyway enough rambling from me - here's a couple of vids I like - I'm not a fan of loads of slap bass but I think what Viacelsav is doing is beyond that, it's just highly skilled/passionate playing at its best. blind pilot
This guy NEEDS to be on stage, he is explosive and great fun to watch, and a lot more musical than some slap fest double thumbing boring stuff I have seen (but wont mention through fear of lynching) lol I am glad he won the Sandburg bass competition too - well desereved IMHO
+1 on all of the above. Watched this guy a few times and the passion and pure enjoyment definitely comes through along with some great playing. wombatboter
I totally agree with you... he's a great bassplayer with a vivid imagination and plenty of energy. I wish him all the best...!
Spoombung
Another agreement here after seeing him on BassTheWorld.com (who have been championing him for a while). He does need to get on stage.
thisnameistaken
I really like him, he's creative and enthusiastic, a lot like Flea actually - the sort of guy who could light up stages all over the world, inspire a million kids to take up bass guitar, and then get slated in forums decades later for not being technical enough. rOB
Lots of respect. Bass and drums with no traditional melody instrument but great listening.
Gust0o
I've had a chat with him via Youtube before - great guy and some great playing
TRBboy
I found this guy last year when I was looking for videos of Sandberg basses. He is superb, clearly loves playing and is very expressive. If you watch his version of Around the World by RHCP, and then watch the Chilis do it straight after, Flea's playing seems a bit....... dull I suppose......
I'm a big fan of his stuff. He is very creative and has done some very interesting interpretations of songs from very diverse artists. I don't know him at all, but he seems to be pretty ego-free too. Much love from here!!
max363
Found him quite a while ago, and instantly became big fan of his work.
