tografox
Well, its taken 20 or so basses and various amps, cabs and combos but at the end of the day there is only one bass sound... A Fender Precision through a valve amp (or, at least, a valve pre) into a 15 cab (or preferably a 2x15). I will concede that a Fender Jazz might be acceptable - and a 2x10 can open up that 15 tone a little - but basically what Leo got right in '51 is still right today! Kevlar body armour in place for all the comments that this post will generate!!
charic
What about those of us who like 6 string basses
cocco
I almost agree, you need an 8x10 IMO

[/quote] Composite armour sounds too bright and clicky when people throw things at you, you just can't get that warm thumpy sound out of them. After 20 years of annoying people I've gone back to a good old fashioned tin suit of armour, basically what they got right in medieval times. Conan
Horses for courses... but "that" sound does indeed work in certain situations. Although for me it would be a J rather than a P!!
tografox
Have to concede that one - Ampeg SVT with an 8x10 is THE classic backline.
cocco
Nah mate, AD 200 and OBC8x10. Having owned both I know which I prefer
