shug
Hey, Basschatters, I'm looking at a TE GP12 SMX amp head , the 280w model,on Ebay at the minute and notice from the photos that there are 2 speaker out jacks each labelled 8 ohms. I need to run a 4 ohm 8x10 cab with it and wondered if that was possible. Surely nobody'd make a transistor amp that didn't go down to 4 ohms? I'd really appreciate any thoughts you may have on this, and soon, as the auction ends Weds lunchtime! Fingers crossed Shug Edited February 26, 2012 by shug
obbm
I think you'll find that the two 8-ohm sockets are in parallel. You can either plug in a pair of 8-ohm cabs or a single 4-ohm cab into one of the jacks and leave the other vacant.
hubrad
I second that emotion I have the 250W head with the same output jacks.. Min Impedance 4 Ohms. Good amps, mine (SMX Made In England early 90s) is still giving good service approaching 20 years old.
