mart Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012
Saw this in passing Bigger/cheaper version of the Gramma pad? http://www.studiospa...ser/invt/465310
Bigger? Isn't it almost exactly the same size? It says it's 570mm x 370mm x 68mm, which actually looks fractionally smaller than the Gramma pad's 23" x 15" x 2.75" to me. Still, it certainly is a good few quid cheaper. Quote
markstuk Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 Indeed, it just looked bigger in the photo :-) Quote
ahpook Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012
Boom Boom..... :-)
not if you use the isolation pad Quote

KennysFord Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I'm waiting with baited breath for tmrw night hehe. Quote
markstuk Posted March 12, 2012 Author Posted March 12, 2012 Hi, had a chance to use it in anger yesterday (and will also use it this evening) but it appears to do what it says on the tin... The bass has tightened up and appears to have more punch... Quote
StraightSix Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 (edited) I'm curious about these but my understanding is that they have most effect on a hollow stage. Studiospares also sell strips of the foam 2" X 4" and four feet in length for around £12 - I reckon a sheet of decent ply and a couple of spare carpet tiles should do the trick...anyone else tried building one...? Paul S Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Bump this topic for more praise. I bought one of these Studio Spares isolation pads some weeks back but finally got a chance to make a direct comparison using it for the first time on a raised hollow stage where I had previously had a really boomy sound when the rig (Barefaced Compact and Midget, TC Classic 450) was set directly on the stage floor. This was at the Essex Arms in Brentwood, for those that know it. Anyway, it totally and utterly cured the problem. One time before I had the cab on a small table, which helped, but this *completely* eliminated the boominess. I'd go so far as to say that I got the best on stage sound I've ever had, plus (I was told) the projection was much greater and the tone much, much clearer*. As other people have said - this is the best value £30-worth of kit I have ever bought! For that money it really is a no brainer and it takes up no space at all. Happy man here Although it didn't stop me getting a memory failure at the start of 'I Fought The Law', which I have played scores, maybe hundreds, of times yet when the bass came in my mind was blank. Why does that happen!? Quote
