Varnished p bass

I got a 74 p bass but it been varnished with the neck over the decal which is a pain but is there anyway to get rid without hurting the decal?

maybe i should just wet sand the neck until it reaches the clear coat

That was my thinking. The lacquer over the face of the headstock isn't very thick though, so go easy when the varnish shows signs of thinning out.

If the decal is damaged replacements are available.

i got a friend at Dec-art he said he would make me an replacement one but that would be my last resort
