Mr Bassman Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Thought some of you might find this useful I was seduced by the scroll on the front cover, but the pieces make useful fingering exercises although the numbering is on the small size. I've printed a couple out and may overwrite the tiny numbers. If you haven't got Kindle you can dowload it for free for Mac, P.C iPhone etc Quote
Silvia Bluejay Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Looks interesting. Thanks! I haven't got a Kindle but will try the PC verson. Quote
sarah thomas Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 (edited) I got Jerry Coker's Improvising Jazz for Kindle and found the musical notation too small to be useful. (And anything beyond the first few pages too difficult!) I've just downloaded the PC version for Kindle and although it's better, there is no way of making the notation larger. You can change the font size and make the text bigger, but not the music. I'm tempted by this bass solo book but not if it has the same problem. I had a look at the sample but it doesn't have any music, only words. Can anyone help? Edited February 29, 2012 by sarah thomas Quote

Silvia Bluejay Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 If the notation is set as a graphic, as opposed to treated like text, you might not be able to enlarge it without losing crispness. Quote
Mr Bassman Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 (edited) The notation is fine, it's the tiny numbers they have used for fingering Edited February 29, 2012 by Mr Bassman Quote

Mr Bassman Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 I like the concept of this but I think Amazon should know that their scan resolution needs to be higher. I've printed off a couple of sheets and I need a magnifying glass to read the fingering, and thats with my reading glasses! I wonder if I can get a refund Quote
ras52 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Do you have the PC version linky? I too may be "seduced by the scroll" Quote
Mr Bassman Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 I may have misled some peeps here. The Kindle App is available as a free download for P.C. / Mac etc. and there are some books available for free download, but the book in question "Easy Classical Double Bass Solos" costs £3.86 to download. Sorry folks Quote

Silvia Bluejay Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 You didn't mislead us - your original link took to the Amazon entry for the book and the price was stated clearly. I mean, it's not like it's very expensive... Quote
