stevie Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Went to the local music shop today and pulled the trigger of a BRAND NEW badass plectrum. It's blue, and pointy, and made of plastic. I'm so excited - I just had to post this message so that all 10,000 of you will know how EXCITED I am. I haven't taken this baby out of the paper bag yet, but when I do, I'll be sure to post a review. They say the blue ones are best for blues, but that could be urban legend. Anyway, I'm already convinced that it is going to give me an AWESOME tone! Did I tell you how excited I am? Oh yes, I did. And yes, it's a blue one. Next thing I'm going to do is buy me a bass. Quote
Musky Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 NPD? I think that makes you Blue Pointy Pick Club member #1. Quote
Gareth Hughes Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 But which plectrum is best for metal? Quote
Merton Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I think you get a better tone from black plectrums Quote
Truckstop Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Argh, I've been gassing for one of these for ages! Gonna have to wait until they start turning up second hand Truckstop Quote
Pre-CBS plectrums are definitely the ones to go for - if you can afford them. I believe they have extra sustain. You could buy a dozen for sixpence in the old days. But now you have to sell your granny. Edited February 28, 2012 by stevie Quote

Jerry_B Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I've found a plectrum in my loft. It looks quite old. I seem to remember being told that it was once used by that bloke from John Entwhistle. I'm going to sell it on Ebay. Quote

markorbit Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 That baby is a player. Keep good care of her. Quote
4 Strings Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Is it one piece of toneplastic or is it a ply? I know the ply is lighter but no resonance. No resonance at all. Quote
RandomBass Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012
I've got one I don't use but it's too heavy to post.
Interparcel did me a great rate when I decided to go plectrumless last year. I had a custom made gloss black one which I swore I would take to the grave, but let it go. Quote
RandomBass Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Just did a quick Google search, and these things are impossible to find left-handed. What's that all about then? Quote
ShergoldSnickers Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Put an LED in mine. Every time I pluck it lights up. Actually..... I'd probably buy one of those. Quote
petesurvivalcode Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Does anyone make extra large plecs, for 5 string basses? Quote
Monckyman Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 There have been faults reported on these models on TB. Apparently the PRC produced ones fail under pressure leaving you with a jagged edge. Could just be a bad batch I spose.... Blue did you say? Hmm Quote
nottswarwick Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Also be aware that the 450mm ones are actually only 236mm long. Just a heads up. Quote
