apa
Ive stuck this first in the Big Boys Club but thought it may apply equally here for any bass neck........ Ive really been enjoying my Stagg EUB but theres one anoying problem with it!! The painted back of the neck is very very sticky. Its making it very hard work to change position. Its not dirty and nor am I (well I am but thats another story!) The neck started out as a satin finish and was sticky. I thought it would get better but now that its polished its even worse. Is there a spray? Do I sand it back? do I spray paint it? Do I get the vasaline out? Help? cheers A Edited March 2, 2012 by apa

discreet
It's what I've used to 'satinise' the finish on glossy electric bass guitar necks. Scotchbrite pads don't take off material too quickly. But I don't have experience of EUBs, so you should probably await a response from 'the other place'...

apa
I rubbed the neck down with a bit of 2500 W&D and its worked quit well. Still not as Id like it so I will give one of the other methods a go see what happens A
Al Heeley
+1 for green scotchbrite pad
Delberthot
I use 000 grade steel wool on my basses. It dulls the finish but if its the best bass you've ever played then what they hay.
bertbass
I also say the wire wool method but followed up with T cut for a perfect finish.

TRBboy
I've used 1200 grit W&D (any very fine paper would do) before with great effect. Obviously you don't want to take anything off, just slightly abrade the surface to give a sort of satin feel.
discreet
How do you make your neck smooth? Moisturise!
