Rich
My old 90s wood-necked Series 1 has been around the block a few times, in my hands and previous ones, and the hardware was really starting to get tired. Especially the bridge, which had long since stopped being black and was actually going green in places... The final straw came when I discovered that an intonation screw was missing. I could have got a new screw from Status, but instead i took the opportunity for a bit of a change and went for gold. A set of tuners and monorail bridges later and, well, i think it look a million bucks. Here's a before shot with everything black: And here's what it looks like now. Since the pics, i've refitted the 2nd small black eq knob so now just the volume and pan are gold:

RichF
that's a real nice looking bass you've got there matey. Like the bridge a lot. Not a fan of the headless bass in general, even Status, but headed Statii are lovely.
Rich
String tree is a problem, i've tried to rub off the black finish from the existing one in the hope that it's brass underneath. Limited success so far, think i'm going to have to grind the rest off. Another option is to get some brass rod and make my own. If i can polish it highly enough and lacquer it, it might be ok. Thanks for the nice comments guys, i'm well pleased with it.
BassBus
These wooden necked Status basses have to be some of the most value for money basses out there. Looks like a great job.

Chris Horton
the bass looks cool ! How about using a gold plating company to coat you exsisting string tree ? You could send the part to them

Chris2112
I remember speaking to Pete at Howard's Bass Place once and he was talking about the black hardware on Status basses going green and yellow over time. Very strange!
Fat Rich
I remember speaking to Pete at Howard's Bass Place once and he was talking about the black hardware on Status basses going green and yellow over time. Very strange!
Oddly I've got a wooden Energy and a couple of Series 1 Matrix all with black hardware and they look as good now as they did when I got them in 1992. Ironically it maybe because I rarely polish my basses. Edited March 10, 2012 by Fat Rich
