I am going to have a go at arco but am without a bow. The ones on the web seem to be generally ultra-cheap or eye-wateringly expensive. Does anyone have an OK bow in good shape, preferably with quiver and rosin (as I'm too lazy to source everything separately!)

Up to £100 budget (obviously the cheaper the better, as long as OK quality). Can do paypal or bank transfer

How about the bow you gave me with the [s]Anton Arthur Alan [/s]Andreas Zeller DB last year?

I'll sell it back to you for the princely sum of ... erm ... nowt.

Come and get it, mate.

French or German pattern?

Makes a difference how you hold the bow and the bass.

If you stand with the bass sideways on you probably need a French.

If you sit or stand behind the bass you might like the German style.

Thanks Keith, I didn't realise that Jack would happily hand back my old (basically unused) bow.

I have an audition coming up and the intro to a couple of songs requires long arco strokes on the E and A strings. I stand sideways on so I guess that makes it French

Its a 2x10 with dimensions 23"H x 15.75"W x 16.5"D, which in cm is around 57.5 x 38 x 41

The only box I have that would take that is probably far larger than you'd want to use.

But if it could be butchered and taped together it could be just the ticket :) If you are happy to offload it, I'll take it mate :)

Thanks Keith, the bass in the band in question is a lot more demanding than Rattlin Bone (faster, busier) so we will see. Its a really good band though so fingers crossed

Thanks Chris. I just popped round to Jack's and got my old one back.

Now which end do you hold? :D
