chilievans
I've been thinking of getting a new bass but then I had this idea. Instead of buying a new bass with 24 frets is it possible to get a new neck made and swap it with the neck I have now (21 frets)? It would save me a lot of money
Machines
Yes but not at the same scale. It wont save money realistically as you'll also need the neck pocket deepened. You'd be better of selling and getting what you really want.
chilievans
Bummer. I thought it sounded too good to be true.
JakeBrownBass
Are you talking about your Shuker bass? Probably best speaking to Jon about it, if the 21 fret neck you already have isn't needed he can probably re use it and sort a deal with you. chilievans
Yeah Jake, the Shuker. I really love the bass and don't want to sell it so talking to Jon sound like a good idea
tommorichards
Well this place had them, but they seemed to have stopped stocking them http://www.dangleber...0Guitar%20Necks What it was, was a neck that fitted a normal 20 fret neck pocket, but had the fingerboard extended to 24 frets, sorta like the 21 fret ones that are on there. Not sure what upper access would be like, but theres an idea Edited March 5, 2012 by tommorichards
Muzz
Another problem you might have changing necks around is access to those upper frets - I'm putting a 22-fret neck (which I already have) onto a Thunderbird body, so I'm kissing goodbye to, oh, seven frets or so. That's OK for me (saves all that anxiety and nosebleeds straying over the 15th fret), but if you're after a useable 24 frets, you'll need the right neck position/cutaway to actually get to them without having to have a second left wrist installed...
