butlerk02
I've just taken the plunge and purchased a pair of AKG K701's from Thomann. My question is will my focusrite saffire (http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/sep05/articles/saffire.htm) be enough to power these headphones, or should I get a seperate headphone amp? Was looking at something like a FiiO E9. Cheers Keith
Alex Spencer
Check out the focusrite VRM box. It's a really clever little piece of kit!
butlerk02
Cool, Does this not just emulate speakers and rooms though, or will it provide enough juice to power the AKG's? I was thinking of getting this - http://www.njc-audio.co.uk/html/monitor1.html
shizznit
Surely you're looking for headphones that will represent the sound well, rather than give a 'better' sound? Personally I'd go for Beyer DT770's. I use them a lot for mixing and general audio work when I can't get to a decent pair of monitors. Pretty popular headphones, BBC use them a lot too.

+1 for the DT 770's, outstanding for the money
++1 I have a pair and wouldn't recommend anything else in that price bracket.
