Great Basses from the UK

Hi guys,

I've got 893 brands of basses listed on my website, but only 46 of those are listed as being from the UK. Can it be so???

Can you guys help me find more bass brands that are from the UK???

I'm sure there's loads more that I've missed - these are just the ones I'm interested enough in to have book-marked. Also I'd personally not include Tanglewood as they are essentially an importer rather than a manufacturer in the same way that brands like Grant and Kimbara were in the 70s.

on a more serious semantic note though , you say 893 'brands' - just wondering how many other basschatters would include luthiers as brands?

i dont doubt they should all be included somehow but my general idea of brand would be Status, Wal, Vox, Shergold, Hayman etc. We have some great luthiers in this country but i would speculate as to how many luthiers would self identify as a brand?

as usual there are exceptions and one springs to mind - the late mr tony zemaitis - is arguable that he as an individual was a brand, long before his son set up the japanese zemaitis custom shop
