ShergoldSnickers Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Aluminium enclosures? Like to see the price ticket on that, although the benefits in rigidity and producing complex shapes to iron out cabinet resonances are obvious. They are probably something that would start to endear me to them reasonably quickly in the looks department. Different. On the technical side, the sensitivity is average, but the dual coil impedance sounds intriguing - although they've had this on other cabs. Like to see that working before I passed judgement. Quote
GarethFlatlands Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Same here, I'm a little skeptical about how they sound and perform in a band setting but damn they look good. Quote
Chris Horton Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 (edited) I wonder if an aluminium cab would produce a very "thin" sounding bass tone. I think that plastic PA speaker cabs vs wooden PA cabs sound very Different and I wonder what sort of tonal characteristics you would get from these New Epi cabs ? Musicman20 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Hmmm, will these actually be available? Epifani seems to be going through a strange patch at the moment. Cool idea, but where are they?! Quote
Owen Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 They look lush and they are light. Epifani have been around long enough to not put rubbish out so I am excited to see more. Quote
pbass67 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Love the look of these. A welcome break from the black box syndrome. Fair do's to Epifani for pushing the boundaries. If they sound anywhere as good they look, I think they'll be rather busy. Quote
Mr Bassman Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I love my UL110 cab, it sounds amazing and is so light. The new Ali 10" is heavier and you probably couldn't stand a pint on top of it! Quote
Chris Horton Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 Does anyone know if Epifani are using their DIST amps in this new AL range ? Quote
Clarky Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012
Loving the look of the 1x12 combo.
thats the one that caught my eye too. Its refreshing - as a post above stated - that they have gone with an original design approach. Quote
Chris Horton Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 I love the look of the 112 combo with the White finish. It is very striking, as other peiople have said, it is great to see something other than black. I know that the DIST range could be bought in some funky colours but I think it is the curvey shape that draws me to these AL products . Quote
Musicman20 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 They do tend to make a lot of vapourware products that never seem to come to light, just a demo at a show. But, I'd like to see these actually made, as they are very refreshing. Quote
Chris Horton Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 I wonder how the Powder Coat Finishes will stand the test of time wit gear being lugged around ? Quote
patch006 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Nice and pricey, 1200 squids for the 1x 12 combo!!!!!!! special order from Bass Gallery, does look lush though! Quote
patch006 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Its alright Chris, sell the Yamaha then its sorted! Quote
Chris Horton Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012
Its alright Chris, sell the Yamaha then its sorted!
But I was going to buy 2 of them and have 1 as a back up amp Quote
