BassInMyFace
very quick one but in basschat's experience what is reasonable quote for luthier to fit new bridge? i have the blank bridge so its labour only and have been quoted £120 from one and £150 from another. this surprised me. does this seem reasonable? Mr Bassman
Sounds a lot to me, I'd want the bridge and fitting for that. I fit my own bridges and I can't see it taking more than 2-3 hours
TheRev
My last quote was £250 for a bridge and fitting. It can take a bit of time to get the profile of the bridge feet to match the contours of the table so perhaps your qoutes are based on a worst case scenario and may end up costing a lot less if the fitting turns out to be straightforward. zero9
A guideline cost for a medium quality bridge fitting is around £100 to £120 including the bridge (in my experience, having had two DB's done). Labour only I would say around £50 to £70.
BassBod
I was charged around £50 for re-fitting/correcting a recent replacement bridge...that didn't fit. But that was a part of a general set-up and new strings, so there was some headroom. I would think anything over £75 for just fitting seems a bit steep. But I'm a complete novice in the "classical" world and their ways.
