karlclews Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Hi folks, Here's a little vid of my arrangement of The Beatles' classic, Come Together, for solo bass, played on an Alembic Stanley Clarke. Hope you like it! http://youtu.be/i9NNfDbxjP4 Cheers, K. Quote
Bilbo Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Made me smile, Karl. One of the best sounding Alembics I have heard in a long while. Quote
daz Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 (edited) I do a version of it based on Marcus Millers album version. Great bass choon. Very Nice Alembic Edited March 8, 2012 by daz Quote
lobematt Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Very nice, reminds me of the Marcus Miller version. What did you use to record that with?? Quote
karlclews Posted March 12, 2012 Author Posted March 12, 2012 Cheers for the feedback, guys! @ funkopotamus: yes, I've obviously heard the MM version at some point, but I made a conscious decision not to listen to his while working this out! Guess I should now go back and listen to his again and see how much I subconsciously absorbed into my version! As regards what I used to record the track: it's that Alembic Stanley Clarke directly into a Presonus Audiobox interface, recorded in Sonar X1 on a laptop. Little bit of compression, eq and reverb in Sonar. The drums are a slightly edited loop from Stylus RMX. Quote
ras52 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Excellent, a timely reminder that slap can be musical! Quote
zero9 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Thanks for posting that, really enjoyed it. I also like the Avishai Cohen rendition played on double bass - check it out! Quote
Dave Tipping Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Very nice playing dude ... Mrs T heard the music and thought I was looking at some soft pron, ha ha (no really!) Quote
