Stacker
A '76 sunburst Jazz has fallen back into my hands and I'm going to try restore its electrics to period correct. There are no pups on this bass but there are rubber washers (a la Telecaster) to cushion the pickups. I don't think these are original so am looking for confirmation of screw, spring and foam. Also, would a bass of this era have grounding plates under the pup foam and in the control cavity? As to pots, I surmise they'd be split-shaft CTS but need that confirmed an the cap type and value supplied. All info greatly appreaciated. The Bass Doc
To the best of my knowledge a '76 would have grounding plates plus foam (no springs). Around this period Fender were fitting Strat type knobs so split shaft pots would be appropriate (250K CTS) although quite a few players changed to the more popular grub screw knobs in which case solid shafts would be best. Capacitor would be 0.022.
