TRBboy
Cass Lewis from Skunk Anansie was a massive influence on me when I was younger.
legoman
Absolutely. One of my heros is Colin. Beautiful stuff. And Ill give a nod to Terry Chambers, exellent drummer. A
Agreed, a very underrated rhythm section! It's been a joy to have YouTube around to be able to see so many of their gigs that I was too young to see and it was such a shame that Partridge broke down and stopped performing live because of all the bands that have reformed over the years, XTC would be one I'd love to see the most make a return
legoman
Alex James - would he be considered unsung?
Yeah I would say so, seems more noted for his cheesemaking than anything else these days lol. Some of his Blur basslines are mint

Hobbayne
Timothy B Schmit from The Eagles, very versatile player from the country to the heavy rock stuff. Also a great fretless player here.. I was too young to see them too. The greatest pop group that never was. Unfortunatly Andy and Colins later stuff wasnt up to much IMO. They ran out of steam (soul coal ). They've parted ways now so its all over. And here he is on a very nice fretless: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAaxZPjbrVQ A Edited March 10, 2012 by apa

Ou7shined
The bass player I used to listen to most as a kid (before heavy guitars and crazy rhythms took over my life ) - Horace Panter. Townes1992
I'm a little unsure whether to admit to this one haha! I'm a fan of Jack Johnsons music, and his bass player Merlo Podlewski has had an impact on my playing. Maybe a little too much sometimes, it seems all my fingers can play are chilled out melodies!! musophilr
Doug Ferguson was considered by some to be the weak link in Camel. He clearly didn't want to keep playing with them, and I believe he ended up as a double glazing salesman (not a choice I'd make but each to his own). However listening to their 1st 4 EllPees I was never aware that Camel had a weakest link and I enjoyed what Mr Ferguson did on the bass as much as I enjoyed the playing of Messrs Latimer, Ward, and Bardens. Black Sea is one of my Desert Island albums.....I love the older pre Dave Gregory clip of them on TOGWT playing Statue Of Liberty as they have a real rabbit in the headlights energy about them. Seems like Colin these days has totally distanced himself from music altogether so like you say, it's all over
