dspellman Posted March 10, 2012 Share Posted March 10, 2012 US-based (Los Angeles) keyboard and guitar player, I've been asked to play bass (!) on an upcoming project. "I don't play bass and I don't own one." "Can you get one and be ready?" "Dunno. Guess I could try." Obviously I'm not going to be doing anything overly complicated, not going to be doing any bass solos. My general lack of experience has me looking at bass amps and cabinets, and while I would have expected to have made a choice between 410 and 115 cabs, it turns out that there's much more out there. I couldn't afford to have one of the EAD or Barefaced cabs sent over, so I'm looking at fEARful cabs at the moment, and it's likely I'll end up with something like that. Bass players are (some of them) far more advanced technologically than guitar players when it comes to speaker cabs, and that seems to extend to their instruments as well. I'm being brought up to speed VERY quickly (and my head's being filled with TONS of new things), thanks to a couple of these forums. Very cool to be on a UK forum. My first.
