I finally bit the bullet and took out the Dark Star and fitted a Wizard Thumper. Call me old fashioned but I must say I like the sound and it's a joy to play. A P-bass with a super-slim jazz neck, unlike my '78 P with the broom-handle jazz neck.

In order to give the pick-up screws somewhere to bite I had to glue in a piece of wood to fill up the extra route for the DS so no going back.

Anyone want to buy a Dark Star?

yes the screw-holes, not to mention the rather large cut-out.

Oooh, I want it compared to a Fralin.

I think I'd prefer the tone too over a DS.
