Hey guys. I'm looking to pick up a used US Jazz bass and I'm a bit concerned about it being an "American Traditional". After doing some reading, I found out that a serial number beginning with "N9xxxxx" could either be a US Standard or an American Traditional from 1999-2000, is there a way of telling which is which? If I posted some pictures of the bass could you guys tell the difference? When I checked the serial number on Guitar Dater Project it said that it was made in Corona California. Cheers in advance for any help!

I could be wrong, but I thought the Traditional Jazzes had a one-piece scratchplate instead of the regular scratchplate and control plate. Of course, they could've been added afterwards.

Also, that relic job... :(

I'm looking for a US Standard Jazz though, not the Traditional series as they were made with a mix of MIA and MIM hardware.

I don't mind the wear and tear. I just want to be sure that it's a legit US jazz.

Just had a poke around the web, looks like the Traditional series actually had 'American Traditional' written on the front of the headstock. Yours doesn't, so I'm guessing it's a 'proper' US Jazz :)

From what I've read online about them, they're marked as made in US but are a mix of parts that are MIA and MIM and specifically sold on the European market.
