tom1946 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 (edited) Can I respectfully suggest that if you are looking at 2 year old posts and want to know if the item is still for sale, PLEASE PM THE SELLER. I'm 65 and don't have the time left to trawl through posts containing what appears to be a bargain, and then realising how much of my remaining life has been wasted. A.Lindberg Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 And the seller can try and write "sold" or "traded" or "withdrawn" in the headline. Quote
Oldman Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Maybe, the seller, has forgotten....... Hence the initial post.... Quote
Oldman Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Unless.....moderators had a mechanism that required a post to be renewed after either 3 months inactivity or put a time limit on a selling post and then renew it. That might allow seller to assess the market and maybe adjust pricing..... Quote
wingnutkj Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Some kind of auto-lock thing where x months after the last post, the thread is automatically locked (but giving the thread starter the ability to unlock it), would be good. Quote
Oldman Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Yes, moving old posts to an "Old Post's" thread would mean you could trawl the thread knowing it was old kit for sale or trade, PM the vendor and also clean up the main arteries on which thrive.... Quote
apa Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 They gave me a damn good chuckle last night though so its not all bad Seriously it is up to the seller to sort it out. Theres no harm in someone asking though. Newbs in particular shouldnt be blamed, how are they to know the score. A Quote

A [/quote] Yes I agree, but old posts should be cleaned up even by a routine that chuck's them into an old posts thread the seller can then resurrect the post if need be or confirm sale, trade. Quote
TomTom Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Or perhaps, since it's pretty clear he (you know who you are) knows exactly what he wants, he could just post it up in the wanted section? Quote
Raggy Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Is this still for sale? Or I could offer a one year old post as a trade! Quote

tonyf Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 If this post had one more string, I'd have it... Quote
tonyf Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 If this post was a fretless, I'd have it..... Quote
Gust0o Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I DON'T HAVE THE TIM TO TRAWL THROUGH YOUR OLD POSTS!>!>!!!! In other news: well said, Tom. Sold or withdrawn items should be marked as such, and prospective buyers should know better. Quote
