Musky
Made in Japan is pre-1997. Are you sure it's a Geddy?
Fender Japan are using MIJ again, rather than CIJ. They're using mixed case lettering rather than upper case (or italicised) lettering. I was suspicious about the photos and refused to pay until I saw detailed ones. Said he didn't know until just before the auction ended but has agreed to cancel sale. Did offer £50 off when I pointed it out It's probably quite a nice bass, just not what I wanted and not what he claims

Dear 1962gareth, Hi, thank you for pointing that out, it looks identicle to the one you say, I guess it is, is that bad? I don't know, what I do know is it sounds great. I am a guitarist not a bassist, I bought the bass to make a few backing tracks to play along to, and for that, it worked. Geek99
Hmm sort of. I don't care if knobs or bridge are only look a likes. The body and arguably pickups are a different matter and it anyway wasn't in the list of changes. You can't, IMHO, call it a Japanese made bass if only the neck is actually Japanese. Edit for typos and sense Edited March 15, 2012 by Geek99
dlloyd
Okay, I misunderstood the link above. The bass you bid on is a Vintage V4... http://www.jhs.co.uk/vintagebass.html with a MIJ neck in bad condition, a US Fender neckplate and who knows what else... my guess would be that the rest of the bass, including the pickups, is original to the Vintage V4. I see the bass was "won" for £271... ouch.
Geek99
"Won" on the premise that it was a Japanese p from 93, with only replaced tuners, knobs and bridge. If it had been what he said, it would have been an unmissable bargain badly timed to end at 8:41 am. As I said it was pretty soon clear that the body was not original rather than just badly photographed and I rejected the sale. My thanks again to silldx and all others who replied Edited March 15, 2012 by Geek99
