artisan Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 (edited) can't wait, although i'm just a little worried incase i balls it up but i'll just keep it simple & steady so all should be ok, + it's also the first outing for my new GK MB210 amp' too ,exciting or what. mind i've done a couple of gigs with my Stagg & my Strunal is a lot nicer to play so i'm sure i'll manage just fine (gulp) the only slight worry is that our drummer has had a major op' on his neck so he's out of commision, our usual stand in is away on his jollies & the only other drummer i know is the loudist most over the top earth quake kind off drummer which is not what we need for old school 50's tunes. oh well who needs a bloody drummer anyway,i guess i'd better improve my slapping skills before the gig Edited March 14, 2012 by artisan Quote
Silvia Bluejay Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 All the best, A - you'll be fine. Remind your drummer he's not in a Motley Crue tribute band for this gig Let us know your impressions of the new baby - in fact, the new babies! Quote
TPJ Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Have fun Neil. Give the drummer chop sticks and tell him he has to make do playing with them Quote
thisnameistaken Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 My one piece of advice: Pace yourself. Quote
artisan Posted March 14, 2012 Author Posted March 14, 2012 thanks everyone. i'll be taking it very steady & not attempt anything flash at all. looks like it's a drummerless gig too (trying to calm him down would be impossible ),but most of the songs we play didn't originally have drums on anyway. Bluejay - i'll report back on how my baby performs on the night,it sounds awesome through the GK i just hope i can do it justice. Quote
Clarky Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Break a leg mate! My first DB gig was fab, the sense of achievement was amazing. Hope you really enjoy yourself Quote
Mr Bassman Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 You'll be fine that bass almost plays itself! Quote
PTB Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I wasn't as well sorted as you seem to be before my first DB gig so I'm sure you'll have a great time. Enjoy it and +1 for pacing yourself. Quote
Thurbs Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 My first db gig was without a drummer too. I agree when you do gig, you need to find a quiet one... Quote
thisnameistaken Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 My first db gig was on the fecking radio. :/ Quote
fatback Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 You'll have a ball. Don't worry about a thing. The big surprise to me was all those people wanting to talk to me before and after. I mean who wants to talk to the bass guitarist (apart from other bass guitarists)? Quote
