Help needed...4 or 5 string Fretless??

Recommended Posts

I really want to buy a fretless bass as it is my birthday soon. But I'm undecided whether to go for a 4 or 5 string. I've got a 4 and 5 string normal. I love the versatility that the 5 offers but I also love my 4 string! If you were in my shoes what would you go for and why? :) Any thoughts??

My thinking exactly.

If you already play a 5, then if you were to buy a 4 string fretless, I can pretty much guarantee that in a few months, you'll be playing your fretless and you'll look down and think 'sh*t I could really do with a low B for this bit'.

Unfortunately, there's a lot less choice in terms of instruments.
