Dropzone Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Me, batteries, switched, cables, jacks, and amps have a continuity issue and I am always having something go down on me and sadly it is not my misses. I always take a back up bass with me but all my fives are active so I immediately start worrying about the battery! So, can you recemmend to me a back up bass with the following chatecteristics. 1. Is passive but has some tone to it. 2. Has 5 strings 3. Has renowned reliability for switches and jacks not crackling or cutting out. 4. Doesn't look too boring. I suppose my budget is around £200 and am happy to consider second hand. Thanks for looking. Mike Quote
Gust0o Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Was there not a 5-string Spector Legend in the For Sale section? Would that not do a good job? Quote
Cygnus x-1 Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Squier Precision or Jazz 5 or a Yamaha BB415 or 615 or if your lucky a nice OLP Tony Levin 5. Quote
Cygnus x-1 Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 This is nice although it's active; http://basschat.co.uk/topic/170820-fs-squier-jazz-deluxe-5-string-l200/ Quote
Mog Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 A secondhand Yamaha RBX should tick all the boxes. One of the passive ones obviously. Quote
Lozz196 Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Not a five-man myself, but can comment on the quality and playability of Squiers. Def worth checking out. Quote
LiamPodmore Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Squier J would be my first choice too, gigged one of the Deluxe models for over a year. Liam Quote
JTUK Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Is there no way to make the bass run passive in the event of an emergency? Quote
