I have the Clarus+ two-channel head which goes to 800w at 2 ohms and sounds fantastic with DB. Its in vgc. I would love to have the exact same head in a loud combo, ie, the Ten2 combo. Does anyone fancy trading their Ten2 for my amp, perhaps someone that wants a more modular system to match the amp with different cabs? There would be cash your way of course given the difference in value. Expecting to draw a blank here but you never know!

Hey Clarky
Why.not get yourself a Ten ex and keep your amp. It amounts to pretty much the same thing.

hi there, it's something I had thought about but the advantages of the combo are easier portability (important if I have to use London transport) plus the head pops out if you need to use a different cab. When I last contacted AI Europe they had no combo conversion kits (which was the first option I investigated) as they are introducing a new series (IV I think)

I wouldn't fancy taking the Ten 2 in the gig bag + instrument on public transport, it seems quite heavy & bulky to me, but then you're ten years younger than me. :)

The spec sheet says it's 32 pounds which sounds OK, but then I guess a lot depends on how it is carried (where handles are etc). Most of the time it wouldn't be public transport ... but the rehearsal venue for my new band is out of the way in SE London and I won't always have the car available to me on those days. So it would be very occasionally that I would be on trains etc

I've just weighed mine, it's 34.4lbs in the gig bag

I'd struggle to carry it far

I use a fold up trolley similar to this rather than carry it.

I carry my Focus head in a little backpack which includes all leads and an extension plugboard. The Ten 2 is not something I'd want to carry any considerable distance. It's an awkward shape. Mind you I'd not be taking my ten ex , Db and backpack on public transport unless I really had to or was built like a brick shithouse (which I'm not).

I'm getting a clear picture here, Marvin S and Keith! Maybe I was barking up the wrong tree with the Ten2. Bear in mind that I would be carrying the Takamine acoustic bass (B10) not the DB on the train so it probably is do-able. But nevertheless if its heavy-ish and awkward shaped, its probably not what I am after. Thanks for your comments gents.
