pikeman Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Looking good so far, nice colour. What oil are you using? Quote
radansey Posted March 17, 2012 Author Posted March 17, 2012 Thanks. The photo's unfortunately do not show the depth of the wood grain due to the flash. I've just sanded-off with 1200 grid and re-oiled - looks even deeper grained when wet. After a long toss-up (!!!) between Tung OIl and Danish Oil I decided on the latter, with a view to switching to Tung for the final finishing coats. Quote

radansey Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 Put final coat of danish oil on yesterday (12 coats total). Now needs to fully dry out before I beeswax and buff Quote
radansey Posted April 6, 2012 Author Posted April 6, 2012 (edited) De-nibbed with 0000 wire wool and a final coat of Danish applied three days ago - it is hard to know when to stop ("just one more coat, just one more") must be my OCD kicking-in. The finish is now satin and shows the grain off nicely - as it should after 15-20 applications The question is how long should I wait before beeswaxing?? Edited April 6, 2012 by radansey Quote
