lxxwj
THIS is why I need a time machine! This and the Bass Whammy, of course. Oh, and maybe a Deep Impact.. Edited March 17, 2012 by lxxwj
EskimoBassist
For one second I genuinely thought this was the For Sale section and I was touching cloth in excitement...
umcoo
that was the intended response!
GarethFlatlands
Nice and cheap amps too, although the cab and matching EL34's aren't especially great.
Musky
Pricey! I think I paid £33 new for mine. They were originally being sold over here by Watford Valves (IIRC) and I remember the price hike when they got a new distributor.
Mr. Foxen
Hmm, price of amps and valves hasn't gone up very much when you look at comparable bottom level amps and tubes, Behringer/Bugera and cheapy Chinese valves. The golden age is now.
Beer of the Bass
I borrowed a friend's green muff for a while - I couldn't really hear any magic that the new ones don't have. Victor Morris were quite interesting characters - one half of the shop was music gear and the other half supplied knives, replica firearms and other weaponry to the local ne'er-do-wells! I think they've dropped that side of the business nowadays...
umcoo
Apparently there can be quite a wide range of tones due to inconsistencies at the factory...simply put, some sounded great, others not so much. Not sure how much truth is in that, but every one I've played has been great!
umcoo
When I say tones, I mean sounds.
Mr. Foxen
I had one in for repair, it did sound great, was one of those 'Ah, now I sort of get it, might actually pay £40 for a clone then' moments.
LukeFRC
I had one in for repair, it did sound great, was one of those 'Ah, now I sort of get it, might actually pay £40 for a clone then' moments.
I made my own clone, no idea how close it is the original. sounds good though
1970
In 18 years time perhaps we'll look back and say the same about spending £200 on one today.
