David Seymour
I'm looking to buy a used CRT4. I've found a couple out there but they seem a little expensive. One is £800 and the other is asking £1000 with some new strings. Is it worth getting the CRT at these prices when I can get the NXT4 for £850? Please advise. TPJ
If that's the model with the mag pup and the piezo then it may be more expensive. The NXT only has the piezo pickup if memory serves correctly. What sort of music will you be playing? Will you need the mag pup?
BassBus
I think the CRT4 has no mag pup. However, you are getting a good pre-amp on it, which is very powerful. The NXT has no pre. So I'd say those prices are quite fair. The only problem is, are you willing to pay that kind of money?
David Seymour
From what I've found online I think the CR has the mag pup but the CRT does not. It has the control for pizzicato and arco which is great because I plan to play mostly music along the lines of John Butler Trio's album, Sunrise Over Sea. I think the preamp would be really useful as I eventually hope to do a little recording. I also think the NS upright basses look amazing so I would probably be willing to shell out around £1000 for one. If this £800 bass is in good condition I may well go for it. Can you recommend any other equally good EUBs for a smaller budget?
Mr Bassman
The CR 4 M has mag pickup (M = mag) CRT stands for Czech Republic traditional set up ( a.f.a.I.k.)
