Shorter scale length models ?

HI,

I've been playing six string electric for many years and want to add a bass for home use only.
I tried a 32" Crafter/Cruiser and found it more comfortable than the 34"s I tried.

Can anyone recommend other makers who do a 32" ?
Maybe a mid price range instrument around £500.

I play mainly 34" basses but have a 30" Danelectro Longhorn: it's really light, incredibly easy to play (with very low action and string tension) and fantastic fun. I think you can pick-up a re-issue at around £250 (and spend some more from your £500 on a decent pre - Fodera or Aguilar - to sort out the Danelectro's tone...far from brilliant out of the box in my opinion). Another useful trick with a Longhorn is to use the D'addario Jerry Jones barritone strings - these are very light, easy on the fingers, bend accurately and easily, and cheap.

That would be a bit expensive at the £500 mark.

Well, I love 32"s
From my experience I can say that 32" are way better than 30"s. You stille have a deep and punchy sound, and slap/pop is a joy: 30"s usually have too few punch and floppy strings.
I offer 32" as an option to my customers, and they love it: the usual comment is "this thing plays like a 34!".

Another good feature is that a 32" doesn't look like a children's bass
