duncbassgit Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Calling all valve amp experts!! Anybody know where I can get decent EL34s and ECC83s in the UK? My JCM 800 bass head could do with a new set to replace the old russian Svetlanas it has now. Ideally it would be great to get Mullard/Osram originals, but they cost a fortune. I've looked on ebay and they are there, but in unmatched pairs, expensive and bias unknown. There are a couple of USA dealers selling matched sets as they claim, but again expensive for Sol or JJ and to be honest if I did buy from the states I'd be worried about them getting broke in carriage. There must be someone over here in UK. Any advice greatly received. Cheers guys n' gals Dunc Quote

StraightSix Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Hotrox are my favourite - I had a bad experience with Watford and if you search you will find others who also have: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=watford+valves+problem&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-gb:IE-SearchBox&ie=&oe=&redir_esc=&ei=0uBoT7-MD9OX8gPGr82aCQ Quote

molan Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I'm not sure if Steve http://www.stevesamps.co.uk/wp/ really counts as a retailer but he'll give you great advice on what to choose and may have some spares in stock. He did an amazing job on my old SVT and sold me a pair of valves for way less then I'd previously paid Quote
bertbass Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Always use Hotrox. No problems and quick. Competitively priced as well. Quote
