Kev
I have an old Warwick amp and upon using the DI output to my mixer for the first time there is a loud hum/buzz. Usual things have been checked, there is no buzz on any other input/output on the amp or the mixer, not computer equipment etc. The buzz from the DI, however, disappears if i plug the line out into something. What do you think this issue is? Seems its a grounding issue that is solved by connecting the line out to earth, but why is this happening?? I know nothing on this subject so forgive me if i havn't given a great explanation...
Kev
The buzz is much louder when the amp is switched off, by the way, is that normal?
icastle
Is there a button labelled 'earth lift' on the back of the amp? If so, switch it to the opposite of what it's set to at the moment.
Kev
There is a ground lift button under the line out, switching didn't have any effect
paul_5
sounds simple, but have you tried a different lead? there may be a short inside that. Failing that, sometimes phantom power can play merry hell with some bits of kit (shouldn't really, but on some lower end mixers I've experienced this). leftyhook
I have a Hartke amp that has developed a similar problem. The ground lift button has no effect. Cheaper to use a D.I box than to even have the thing looked at! So I did just that.
Kev
Not tried a different lead as unfortunately i don't have one, however not had any problems previously with my last amp...
