klaw123 Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Hi chaps, I have a Trace Elliot AH100 GP7 head which has a 'Phones' output. My question is, is it ok to use this output without the amp being plugged into a speaker? Will it do any damage to the amp? Many thanks Paul Quote
witterth Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Short answer is yes, you shouldnt power up a amp without a speaker connected. Mind you plug in head phones ( while speaker connected and turn down "stage out" green knob put to zero) that should work out Ok and not annoy the neighbours. Quote
dan670844 Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Nah it will be fine, the speaker connected thing is only applicable for valve (tube) amps, not mosfet amps like the trace. The headphone out on the trace old trace heads, comes from the preamp via a little discrete amplifier, and it will come out both lugs on your headphones. Quote
