I've currently got a huge Trace stack that I no longer need, and its becoming harder and harder to justify having it, so I'm selling it. I want something small but punchy. I'm less bothered about the sound - I know that I am only ever going to replicate my Trace by buying another one, and that's not going to happen. I just want something decent sized, but punchy. Would quite like an angled thing, Budget is no more than £300, and only if I can get more than £600 for my stack (it includes an RAH600SMX). I want it for home and very small performance - small church.

So, my first thoughts are a Behringer BLX3000. Decent power, sits at an angle, looks good. But there appears to be a whole load of haters out there.

Is it really that rubbish, or is there a bit of name prejudice out there? Any others I should be looking at? How much better would a Hartke A100 be? And what's the real RMS power output on the BLX3000?

Some people like the Behringer stuff but I think it's pretty safe to say that the majority tend to keep it at arms length.

Personally, I've found that their mixing desks are reasonable and their outboard processor range seems a little quirky but it's not half bad when you consider what you get for your £.

I can't say the same for their amplification products though, like a lot of other people I just can't get enthusiastic enough about them to be unimpressed.

I've actually used one of those Hartke wedge shaped bass combos (I don't recall which model though) a couple of times and, for the money, it's rather nice.

As a thought you could get a normal shaped combo and get a stand that will put it at an angle

Keep the amp and sell the cabs. Get a Barefaced Midget (currently one in the FS section) or Compact.
