Owen
I realise it will be an AI cos they have no fans, but how about the rest? I have tried the MB Fusion, Aguilar TH500 and a LM II which were all OK, but I do like a REALLY quiet amp.
LukeFRC
The tecamp puma one spins a bit when it comes on and then stops. My guess is that it comes on again if it gets hot enough, I've not noticed it on ever... I guess if you were pushing it that hard then you wouldn't notice the fan noise? stevie
I've compared the TC Electronics Classic 450 (which I just happen to be selling in the For Sale section ) with the Ashdown MiBass. The TC is very quiet. You really can't tell that the fan is on. The MIBass is noisy. Even if you are sensitive to fan noise - as I am - you will be fine with the TC. LawrenceH
My Markbass F1 seems pretty good, though I've heard reports of them developing clicks. With a lot of amps, as much as quality it's going to come down to age/usage since the bearings will unavoidably wear over time, if I had a noisy fan I'd probably look for a replacement part, preferably spend a bit more on one using nice bearings - still shouldn't be too pricey
Musicman20
Genz Streamliner 900! Very very quiet. The new Tecamp 900 has no fan!

stevie
Interesting. It could be a QC problem I suppose. Anyone else?
Truckstop
I will say the Ampeg PF-350/500's have loud fans so you can take them off your 'to-try' list! Truckstop
Stag
My Staccato '51 is silent. Really cant hear any fan noise! Maybe its knackered. Edited March 26, 2012 by Stag
Toasted
Inspired I checked my Markbass F500 - no discernible noise after an hour of playing. I think that in comparison to my old wind tunnel-esque DB750 anything would be quiet.
DirkThrust
The iamp 900 I owned had no fan at all. EA claimed the circuitry ran cool so it didn't need one. It's not exactly a micro amp but I wonder if the same principle extends to the current EA range.
Ghost_Bass
Genz Benz Shuttles 6 and 9 very quiet, you can't hear a fan inside or any other kind of noise on your sound.

charic
I honestly forgot my TC head had a fan. And I currently use my head DI'd into my Mbox.....

MoonBassAlpha
Genz-Benz Shuttle 3 doesn't have a fan, all the other Shuttles do.
wateroftyne
Streamliner is really quiet - that said, fan noise generally doesn't bother me.
Dave Tipping
If it is for recording just buy a long speaker cable and sit the head in another room ... if it's for live get a life!
BassBod
My EA Micro has a fan, not very noisy but you can hear it on a very quiet gig. Not a problem, but what puzzles me is why its there at all. I've pushed the amp on a few occasions and it never gets even the slightest bit warm..yet alone hot?

I'm just used to my SWR stuff, which gradually works its way from cold up to red hot and then prompts the horribly noisy industrial grade fan into action for twenty mins....even if you don't play a note.
