Ive researched and apparently you can spray nitro straight onto it although that seems to be a little debatable!! Question is Im not too fussed about using nitro so is there a stock rattle can other than nitro I can use thats compatable with a poly finish? I've also used Halfords clear car spray which turned out ok, doesn't pool as nicely as the Plastic-cote stuff though so you have to be a bit more careful with even coverage. brensabre79 Posted March 29, 2012 Share Posted March 29, 2012 FWIW All Fender nitro finishes from the 60s onwards are nitro over poly, they dip the bodies in something called Fullerplast (basically its plastic) before spraying on the nitro (even natural finish ones) and the necks too.
