Fionn Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Has anyone here ever had a luthier change a fingerboard on their bass? If so, who did you get to perform the voodoo? Were you pleased with the results? How much did it cost you? I'm considering changing the fretted wenge plank on my thumb bass for a fretless ebony number ... that said, how do you think that a lined wenge board would cope/ feel ... it's pretty grainy. just tossing around ideas really. I might just buy a fretless. Any input would be appreciated. Quote
TDM Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 (edited) I guess it depends on the finish and the particular piece of wenge you use, since some are less grainy than others, but I personally would go for ebony. ....then again the back of warwick wenge necks feel pretty smooth to touch (but they have a wax finish?) LukeFRC Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 i would think it would almost be as cheap to buy a secondhand fretless thumb. Quote
