Folks,

Saw a quick review of this instrument on bassplayer TV - http://www.bassplayer.tv/

Go to "basses & gear" then "gear previews" and finally "danelectro dano 63"

He gets a nice rickenbacker like tone out of it - going through an SWR super readhead combo - sounds fab !

Two versions - the one he plays is the 24 fret long scale version and there is a short scale version too with 22 frets.

Get's great reviews in the latest Guitarist magazine too - the baritone sounds like fun as well - no doubt could be tuned EADGBE only an octave down if need be.

Great value - list is £249 but I have seen £219 on Thomann - £233 including postage I believe.

Could be really tempted here - a nice retro alternative to Fenders.........

Don't know if that body shape is universally appealing but a very light, reasonably cheap bass with two stonking pick-ups, 24 frets and an aluminium nut sounds quite intruiging to me !

Cropped up here in Jan:

However, I'd forgotton about it, and seeing as I'll be going on a GAS based spree in 9 weeks (pecise you say? End of uni year I say), thanks for bringing them back to my mind.

I agree with Wil's comment in the original topic, if they re-issued the DC bass I'd be in there like a shot. They do sound amazing though. I used to have a Dano U2 guitar (my first guitar actually, not bass), and it was lovely. I wish I still had it :)
That was my 'one that got away'.
