Just noting the passing of Jim Marshall at the ripe old age of 88. Whatever you think of his amps, there's no getting away from their iconic status!

Yeh - I spoke to him at a show probably 20 years ago. A really down to earth bloke.

I met him at a Fair back in the 80s - proper down to earth fella who took the time to talk to me even though it was obvious that I couldn't afford to buy anything - Jim, I'm sure you will be missed..

Met Jim at the opening of a music shop in Grimsby donkeys years ago,, everyone was drinking champagne,, and he asked for a cup of tea,, classic..

I never met him but Jim Marshall changed my life.

When I was at school, in my lunch hour, I used to go down to his shop in Hanwell and ogle the gear, mainly Precision basses and 412 cabs, and you might see someone famous! It was an amazing, magical, Aladdin’s cave in a very drab part of West London.

Then they moved to a much larger shop in the middle of Ealing Broadway. When I had the money the first thing I bought was a 100 watt amp and 412 cab. I finally had the rig that all my heroes used.

Sorry to hear that he's gone.

Very sad news. RIP Mr Marshall, and thank you for spending the last 50 years making rock music the coolest thing on the planet.

Back when I was buying my amp, I had a choice between getting my Laney half stack, or an old [url="http://www.cashgenerator.co.uk/amplifiers/jim-marshall-2195-lead-bass-100w-amp-head-da1520"]Lead and Bass head[/url] for the same price. In the end time and money ran out, seeing as I'd need to buy a cab too, but I wish I'd been able to get it.
