MarkG3 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 That's sad to hear, my brother in our band has always used Marshall amps + cabs and I always thought they sounded excellent. He is a legend. Turn it up to 11 Jim Quote
dc2009 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 I loved the marshall I had for a while, even if I did think it was so heavy it was going to go through the floorboards... RIP Quote
Lfalex v1.1 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Damn shame. Another icon has gone... RIP, Jim. Quote
chris_b Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 I never met him but Jim Marshall changed my life. When I was at school, in my lunch hour, I used to go down to his shop in Hanwell and ogle the gear, mainly Precision basses and 412 cabs, and you might see someone famous! It was an amazing, magical, Aladdin’s cave in a very drab part of West London. Then they moved to a much larger shop in the middle of Ealing Broadway. When I had the money the first thing I bought was a 100 watt amp and 412 cab. I finally had the rig that all my heroes used. Sorry to hear that he's gone. Quote
Gordon Thudmaster May Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 His sound will live on forever! God Bless! Quote

Icarus_147 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Very sad news. RIP Mr Marshall, and thank you for spending the last 50 years making rock music the coolest thing on the planet. Back when I was buying my amp, I had a choice between getting my Laney half stack, or an old Lead and Bass head for the same price. In the end time and money ran out, seeing as I'd need to buy a cab too, but I wish I'd been able to get it. Quote
4 Strings Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Bye Jim, you've left a fantastic legacy, indeed changed many aspects of the world. Talent only goes so far with a good heart. Quote
