Should I add another cab or Switch for something bigger.

You have no figures to substantiate your claim that 410's are on the "way out". Many are being sold around the world as we speak. Also rudeness does not help your argument.

I would recommend Barefaced to anyone, but if someone wanted a 410 they should not be confused at all, there are some very good ones around these days.

The fact someone wants an unspecific 4x10 demonstrates that they are confused, because they are under the misapprehension that being a 4x10 has some property other than 4 10" speakers. Every beneficial property of a cabinet containing 4 10" speakers in the familiar square formation can be done better with no downside by other configurations. You can't even 'let your ears decide' because ears aren't in the right place to do so.

I must admit, I've always struggled with 4x10s and and 2x2x10s. The only ones I've really liked are SVT410 HLFs when used with an SVT. Very specific sound though. And bloody heavy.

There are cabs available which are much easier to move and are more flexible sonically. That much is obvious.

As in 'a 4x10' rather than 'an SWR Goliath III'. An SWR Goliath III is specific, with a specific associated sound, the is no sound specific to 4x10s except for poor off axis response.

Not sure why would I need a clue in my sig..?? what does that say..??
I am a pretty active poster on cabs here so if you follow such threads, you'd probably know my thinking, but anyway...

I've used most cabinet configs ranging from 810,through to 1516's and hybrid types, down to single 12's and 2x10's and just about everything in between.
I thnk I've used most configs that come to mind.inc 118 and 115 bins.
As for makes..well, there are a lot of them

I say the 410 is the cab to beat but it will be heavy and you may want to make a compromise in the sound for the weight. This is understandable, for sure, as most don't have help
with kit.
I don't think a good 15 will beat a good 410's but then I think it is misguided and unreasonable to think it will. I currently run very good 2x112's and they sound great, IMO, the carry is great and they are more than
a good shout but they lose out to my 2x210's.
It is close which ones I gig with but the consideration is the carry....if I want the best sound, I go with the 10's. They fill the stage better, they are very focused and they handle the lows very well without being bass heavy.
The 2x112 do this too but are just a bit shy, IMO in comparison
If I didn't have the 2x210's then I would be more than satisfied with the 2x112, but since I do, I'd say the 12's come up a tad short.

Have to add, that I tend to prefer ceramic cabs as well...altho can't quite put my finger on why..same with rear ports.
This is not deliberate or scientific, just the way those params seem to work for me...

Something you've pointed out there, which is probably the most relevant thing... It's what "You" prefer. :)

I think that's a very important thing when choosing something. Despite what all the sciences say, what should & shouldn't go together & what it sounds like, it's down to personal preference.

One person will say "You need a Fender P into an Ampeg SVT with an 8x10", another will say "You need a Dingwall ABZ into a Markbass head with 2 2x10s vertically", someone will say "Sadowsky NYC into a SWR head with a 1x15 & a 4x10 on top" & another will say "You need a Warwick $$ into an Orange Bass Terror with a BF Super 12".
None are actually wrong as each of these is that persons' ideal rig that gives them the sound that "they" want. Each one has it's pro's & con's however, the 8x10 and the 4x10 + 1x15 would have the poorest spread across the stage.

OK. Is there some where in or around London that has a 'decent' selection of cabs that I could go along to with my OBT to find my sound and make the choice based on my ears?

If you don't find anywhere then Barefaced is the best option. You also have a full months trail with it to see if you like it and if it does the jobs you need it to do.

If I had all the money in the world and didn't have to have the weight and all the other draw backs. Then I would be sporting an Ampeg SVT II and 8x10.

In my mind I have the next best thing. The Compact does what I need to do an pretty much any stage I've been on. The only time when I've been unhappy is when the sound guy has put far too much bass into the wedges.

Like Lozz says, the Bass Merchant is a good call (I got my Markbass from them).
Also give Bass Direct & the Bass Gallery a call & see if you can take your head along (they may even have an OBT in shop).

SP210 up for sale.

Have come across a potential swap for a OBC115. As a possible step in between getting a BF Compact, would this make sence. It is 400W (450W suggested elsewhere) which is presumably going to be a lower SPL to the BF but from the earlier input this will probably be 50% more than the SP210 is giving at the moment through the Isobaric sert up so probably more suited to larger venues.

I'm hapy to try a different set up but don't want to get rid of a great cab for a set up that is inferior - albeit it that I could always the BF route.

Thoughts?
