Looper
I'm looking to get a new scratchplate for a fender style bass, the fender ones seem to be about £40, but there are unbranded ones on ebay for more like £12. Are the fender ones really £28 better? Don't want to buy something that looks like crap, but then again £40 is a lot of money for a bit of plastic. Anyone got any advice? Thanks. discreet
If you want quality, The Bass Doc on here will make you a pickguard to your specification. But not for £12, though. You pays your money and takes your choice, YMMV, etc. Edited April 7, 2012 by discreet
KiOgon
I bought a Tort from this guy & it fitted my Fender Mexican P very nicely, so for £12.95 I'd say they're fine/good deal/bargain. Looper
Thanks for the replies. Would love a custom scratchplate but might be dressing mutton as lamb in my case. Will take a punt on the ebay guy. Thanks guys.
jwood662
Bought the same one as kiOgon did a couple of weeks ago for a MIA, all the screw holes line up good but I had to fettle the holes for the pots by about 1.5mm to get it to fit perfectly. I was of the same opinion though, try the cheap one first, it's only a bit of plastic at the end of the day.
gary mac
I've also used the seller recommended above. The first one worked out fine and fitted perfectly. The second one didn't. Strange as they were both for Squier Affinity P basses. I was able to send the second one back for a full refund, no problem. So it's worth a punt. If it's wrong it can go back (just don't remove the protective film), all it will cost you is the return postage which I think was about £2.

Cheerz, john [/quote] hi John, i'm after a nice tort plate, I see you got a plate from this eBay seller, what was the tort like?.....some tort plates look naf and uncovincing, yet some look great, i'm also considering the red/black marble. The Squier CV tort plates are not very nice IMO. cheers Nick BTW this looks nice tort http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/2364/cmfbjb.jpg Edited January 16, 2013 by Cygnus x-

Protium
I've found the replicas often need to be modified to fit the pickups through
