THE INTERVIEWS CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE -> http://simonpoulton.....com/sheponbass Todd Wood is the bass-man with Midlands-based prog' favourites Alright The Captain. Alright The Captain have carved a name for themselves in the UK/Euro progressive rock scene over the last few years with a reputation for being LOUD, nasty & noisy and for gigging constantly. If there was ever a band you had the chance to check out live, ATC is the one, with more gigs played each year than almost any other originals act around. ATC have a reputation for something else as well - Huge, dirty bass sounds. In fact huge is an understatement. Check out what Todd had to say about his set up and sound... simwells
Are there any sound clips of the fuzz around Shep?
pantherairsoft
Just the guitar sample in the interview. Tom is sorting the bass samples ASAP. I've played the fuzz (Tarkin Fuzz) and it's very close to a Black Sov Big Muff, but with some very nice tweaks.
simwells
Oh okay I'd be very interested in hearing yours too, keep meaning to get round to getting a bit gated synth.
pantherairsoft
Ah cool - yeah, I promised Tom I'd do a demo for him. I will get around to it soon... Hopefully!
simwells
Would you recommend it over a gated Grey Stache currently then? Thinking that they are slightly larger sounding than a Mastotron.

krysh
thanks shep, this was really great. The pedal maufacturer interviews don't give me so much, but this was a great insight ni the live USE of fx and especially of the GR-55 that I'm also playing around with. I only wish there would have been a little more deeper insights into his patches and toneshaping.
pantherairsoft
Yeah - I think delving into the specifics of programming the GR-55 is a technical manual waiting to happen. I imagine Gary would need a year to write that out! It's certainly an interesting bit of kit. There are some videos on YouTube that he did for Roland with the VB-99 that are quite in-depth, but even they only scratch the surface.
