1979 Precision Bass....does this look legit?

I just saw this on ebay... I'm a little confused as to why it's so cheap. Is it because the condition isn't all that great and the body doesn't have the original finish / after-market bridge? Or is there something fishy going on here?

I saw this too and thought the same, think its been sanded and given an oil finish or something like that the decal is also in a slightly odd position on the headstock - having said that Marcus Ms Jazz has the logo in an odd place and thats the same era.

Yeah the decal position is what made me question it, although I'm certainly no aficionado when it comes to basses from this era!

Not that cheap IMO, if you want it from USA at the BIN it's going to cost just under £800 all in. It looks genuine to me, the brass bits might put some people off & will perhaps drop the price a little, I bet he doesn't get the US$895 he's after.

Edit: The crack in the neck pocket G side would put me off more than anything else, oh! apart from the Cougar piss running down the neck & the damaged strap pin holes. Nothing wrong with the decal IMO.

No mention in the description of the various cracks in the neck and body. And er... the neck isn't a great fit. What's that in the neck pocket there... glue? Filler? I would err on the side of caution, to say the least...

So that's not really a good price considering the condition? I'm actually looking for something a little beaten up...pristine guitars ain't my thing! Those cracks [i]are[/i] kinda worrying though.

Very nice! Good price too. Not specifically looking for a '79 though...if anything I'd rather have a 68-76.
