Toasted
On a QSC PLX amp if I only want to use one 4 ohm cab, do I have to use the Bridged Mono mode, or can I just use "one half" of it in stereo mode. Sorry in advance for the stupid question. Joe.
fretmeister
Don't know that model - but on my old Yamaha P5000S I just used to use 1 side for smaller things. Just keep the vol on the unused side at nil.
Lfalex v1.1
No such thing as a stupid question! You can use either mode (as determined by the dip switches on the rear panel) BUT- To use it in bridged mode will require you to re-wire the Speakon plug at the amp end of your speaker cable. The manual was available as a pdf from the QSC site. Check that out first, as it details what goes where. Do be aware that whilst most PLXs will go down to 2ohm in stereo, it's a 4ohm minimum in bridged mode. I use mine bridged, it's only a 1202, but gives so much more power and control than my Trace head. Do try out the lf roll-off filters (also on the dip-switch panel) I set mine to 30hz, and my cabinets complained less. Not to mention freeing up some extra power/headroom otherwise wasted on trying to make (most) cabs reproduce frequencies they simply can't. HTH....
