barronokirky
Hey all, About to purchase a EBS Reidmar 250 head, as a smaller replacement for my Ashdown EVO II since i'm doing a lot of travelling now for gigs and rehearsals. But i want to keep using my Ashdown 4X10 cab. Is there going to be a problem using the EBS head with an Ashdown cab. Its an 8 ohm speaker and if i'm reading right the Reidmar can use an 8ohm. Sorry for the noobish question, first time i'm mixing heads that isn't at a live gig and don't want to pay out for a new head and then blow it up when i try using it. Thanks
franzbassist
Hi there, and welcome It'll work, certainly, as according to the EBS site the head can run an 8 ohm load, but whether they sound good together is another matter. In my experience, some combinations of different brands sound great, whereas others can be much less successful. If it were me though, I'd want to check whether the Reidmar puts out the full 250 watts at both 4 and 8 ohms: if it puts out less into an 8 ohm load it may not be enough for a gigging situation. cheers Gareth
Lozz196
Yes, as Gareth said, that would be the thing to look into. Although every review I`ve read of this amp states it is incredibly loud, if it were down to 150 watts at 8 ohms, that may be pushing it for live use.
