steve-bbb
cant think of any other artist who has officially employed so many musicians as regular band and extras - not even parliament/funkadelic! Hobbayne
I believe Captain Beefheart had quite a few musicians in his backing group which was never a permanant group
philparker
That's one hell of a list - some very interesting names as well! I seem to recall Steve Vai once commenting on Frank Zaapa with the phrase 'from whence we all came' (or similar).

SteveK
There is one omission from that Wiki list. OK, he wasn't officially a member, but in 1974 a good friend and band mate of mine was touring the US with FZ, and was asked by the man himself to stand in for Tom Fowler who had broken his hand. He did the set from beginning to end, no rehearsals, nothing. Fortunately he was a big fan, so knew most of the material.
