dave_bass5 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) I just noticed this will be on Sky arts 1 tomorrow night at 10pm. Both HD and SD. It's the 2007 Rotterdam gig by the looks of it, I've not seen this yet. Can't wait. Edited April 15, 2012 by dave_bass5 Quote
Johngh Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Hope the sound quality is better than the DVD, it's dire. I watched the DVD last night Quote
blamelouis Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Cheers for that . Reading "Ghost rider " at the moment , good read . Quote

rogerstodge Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Thanks for that dave bass i would've defo missed that Quote
dave_bass5 Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 I loved the Rio DVD, especially the tone Geddy had, but I've not heard much from them lately. I'm hoping it's in DD5.1. It was just by chance I heard the announcement, I don't tend to watch Sky Arts much and am always missing good stuff. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 Looks like there is quite a bit of good stuff coming up http://skyarts.sky.com/metal-evolution Quote
jezzaboy Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I thought the sound quality on the dvd was ok. It is much better than Time machine where Ged has lost all the top end and can`t really sing a lot of the songs anymore. Jez Quote
paul_5 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 cheers for the heads up, I would have missed it too. Quote

Series link. Sky Arts is, along with BBC4, my favourite tv channel. Subscribe if you don't already! Edited April 16, 2012 by toneknob Quote
toneknob Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Also, Iron Maiden on Tuesday at 10pm: http://skyarts.sky.com/iron-maiden-rock-in-rio Quote
dave_bass5 Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Yep, looking forward to the IM gig as well. I have seen it before and prefer the Flight 666 film they did a while ago, but it's still very enjoyable. Right, so it's on, the sound isn't too bad through my home cinema set up but the audio does seem to be slightly out of sync. Nothing unusual for VM/Sky though and I won't let it ruin the program, after all, it's the gear I'm looking at not the lips. Quote
JTUK Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Have to say I would have missed it too... so I tuned in and switched over after a couple of tracks. Never did anything for me whatsoever in the first place so not missing anything.. I am out of this thread.. Quote
mep Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 I have just finished watching my recording of it. I had to fast forward in the middle TBH as I didn't have time to watch it all. The sound seemed ok and you can really hear Geddy up in the mix. His tone was good. Unfortunately for Dave_bass5 there wasn't much gear to look at. Geddy kept his Jazz bass throughout the whole gig and his backline was hidden by 3 chicken rotisseries. The chicken costume wearing roadie coming out to brush some oil on the oven chickens during Spirit of The Radio was mildly amusing, more so for the band. I suppose it was an evolution of the washing machines they used to have some years ago! The Southpark Lil Rush piece as an intro to Tom Sawyer was more amusing, unlike the strange bit before the start with them in a caravan and Geedy doing a mad Scotsman! Quote
Ive been in to those machine since was a kid, im not 100% but i think the model number of them is.......... :-) Better than Washing machines i guess. I recorded it as i had to go to bed halfway through, and still haven't watched the remaining part. Quote
