wally8
Hi all. This bass has had 2 previous basschat owners (hope you don't mind me using the pic). One owner mentioned in his add it was a ks (sadly not a ken smith). I've googled and can't find anything about that. Anyone seen one of these 5 string fretless bases with a weird headstock. wally8
Sadly that wasn't on it when I got it.
TheGreek
80s Aria?? The headstock is remininiscent of that era.. No clues from the p/ups or the electrics??
Ghost_Bass
Can you source the missing truss cover from one of the previous owners? Or at least see if they remember the writting on it, being BC members i wonder why they haven't already chipped in...
Ghost_Bass
Can you find the links for the previous sales threads so that we see if we can get bigger pictures? Also, you could try to remove the neck to see if theres any writing on the pocket or take the lid of the electronics compartment to see if there's anything that could identify the bass. Posting pics here would be very helpfull.
ThomBassmonkey
iirc recently there was a thread by a guy asking the same question and his bass had the same headstock shape. I can't remember what the results were, maybe if you search you can find it
alyctes
I think ThomBassmonkey is right. The name "Palmer" was not mentioned then, but I remember thinking "oh I've got a Palmer with a headstock like that". Two other names were mentioned, but I can't remember what they were. wally8
This is the original thread, loads more piccies. Doesn't help with the trussrod id. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/136601-sold-5-string-fretless-passive-bass-with-brand-new-flats-l100/page__hl__fretless+pristine__fromsearch__1
Ghost_Bass
From this thread i see that i got mislead from the pic you've posted earlier, what i thought was a truss cover with some writting on it is in fact the truss cavity with some light reflections... the mistery thickens... Ghost_Bass
See if Thurbs can get you the ebay seller name or nickname so you can contact him and see if he has more info about the bass.
